A sneak peak into my protocols for ceremony

A lot of the ceremony I offer is private and no part of it is planned as I listen to my intuition as to what, when, and where to take the right action.

I believe the most important thing you can do when communicating with nature is to ask for consent and to make an offering before taking. When I go to gather from nature, the first thing I do is make sure I am in the right energetic head space to be fully present.

Once I head into nature, I make an offering to ask if I have permission to be in the space. This often involves sound in the form of an Oli (chant) or Pule (prayer), offering my life force—my breath, my gratitude, and my respect.

gathering begins with deep listening

Part of my ceremony is the willingness to listen openly to the wisdom nature is offering. I ask if I have permission to be there, and then I ask for permission to gather.

If the answer is yes (and it is not always a yes), I move deeper into the land, listening for which plants are calling for my attention and assistance. Once a plant makes itself known, I approach gently, and I ask:
“Would you like to come with me?”
“This is the purpose you are being asked to support.”

energetic consent: a living dialogue

I listen not with my mind, but with my body. This is how nature speaks.

I hold my fingers close to the plant and feel for the response:

  • A softening in my gut, a gentle opening = yes

  • A tightening, hesitation, or contraction = no

  • If the leaf, flower, or stem comes away easily = yes

  • If it resists or clings to the stem = no

Each part of the plant is asked individually. Nothing is assumed. The process is repeated with each leaf, each flower, each petal. The plant is always told why it is being gathered, and always given the option to stay.

allies, not resources

With this process, every plant ally that comes with me has given its full consent to support the person or purpose it is being gathered for. Once gathered, they are treated with the utmost respect and reverence—as living beings, as collaborators in the healing.

about the connection you can make with nature.*

Nature is always speaking.

The question is, are we quiet enough to hear her?
